1930’s/40’s Hand Painted Unmarked Ransburg Stoneware Cookie Jar or Crock
Ransberg
Preowned 1930’s or 1940’s Hand Painted Unmarked Ransburg Stoneware Cookie Jar or Crock. Measures approximately 7 1/2 inches tall by just a hair under 7 inches side to side. Full disclosure: due to the age and use of this piece, the paint has a multitude of chips in it which i was told is normal due to how often it was used. They are around and inside the rim, on the lid, on the front leaves and flowers, around the rims underneath, and on the sides. The inside has some dark spots that were made during the firing process. Many were distinctive celadon or sage green matte or glossy background glaze decorated with cold-painted (over-glaze) floral motifs. Because the paint was applied on top of the fired glaze rather than underneath it, pieces from this era often show varying degrees of surface wear or chipping. Harper J. Ransburg and other Midwestern American pottery factories of the early-to-mid 20th century. Many of these utility crocks were marked simply with USA or left entirely unstamped on the bottom AS THIS ONE IS UNMARKED. There is a white glaze like spot on the bottom in white which also makes this one unique. This belonged to my family for years. The lid is also factory deformed on the handle that lifts it. It has grooves inward. PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION THOROUGHLY. BEING SOLD AS IS from smoke free home. Please also note this will require additional shipping, so price will be firm. The piece alone is approximately 6 pounds. Thank you for looking. #3074. 7/14/26.
