LEICA M9-P Digital Camera, Beautiful Condition, Overhauled at German Headquarters in November 2023

This is a Leica M9-P.

It underwent an overhaul in Germany in November 2023.

The Leica M9 is the only digital camera known to have a 35mm full-frame CCD sensor manufactured by Kodak.

This is the official M9-P, not an upgraded version, so it comes with the sensor delamination countermeasures already implemented from the start.

As of 2025, the M9 series can no longer be repaired by Leica.

This unit is a one-owner item and was overhauled in Germany in November 2023.

The overhaul cost approximately 360,000 yen.

As it was a camera I had used for many years, I sent it for an expensive overhaul with the intention of using it for life. However, I find myself using it less frequently, and digital cameras tend to degrade if not used. Therefore, I am listing it for sale with the hope that someone can use it for a long time to come.

The unique image quality of this Kodak CCD sensor is incredibly appealing, making it a truly one-of-a-kind camera.

While the 18.5-megapixel resolution may seem modest compared to current cameras, the unique sensor makes the pixel count surprisingly unnoticeable.

In general, CCD sensors offer significantly better resolution than the currently mainstream CMOS sensors. When in focus, they achieve incredible sharpness, and out-of-focus areas take on a nostalgic atmosphere, like a magical sensor.

Combined with Leica's processor, it produces a very film-like finish, further highlighting the uniqueness of this camera.

Although batteries are now discontinued, one was replaced in 2023 and still holds a good charge, so you should be able to use it without stress.

As the overhaul in Germany concluded without prior announcement, this final overhaul unit from Germany is considered very rare.

During the overhaul, some original M9-P parts were discontinued, and several M10 parts were apparently used.

For example, the viewfinder is noticeably clearer and seems to have a wider field of view compared to before the overhaul.

The material of the back cover also feels similar to that of the M10.

Furthermore, the shutter unit is said to be from an M10, which is expected to improve durability.
