[Details]

Amaterasu Mioya Shrine (Amaterasu Mioya Jinja), commonly known as Ise Jinja, is located in Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture.

Known as Iwate's Ise Shrine, Amaterasu Mioya Shrine in Kitakami City.

In the early Edo period, Okudera Hachisaemon, a retainer of the Nanbu clan, worked tirelessly to develop new farmland in the desolate and barren Kitakami region. After repeated failures and hardships, he prayed many times to the Ise Grand Shrine for the success of the project. It is said that a white fox appeared to him in a dream, gave him divine guidance, and he was able to achieve success.
Taking this opportunity, in 1679, a branch of Amaterasu Omikami was enshrined from Ise Jingu, and the shrine was founded.
At the same time, the white fox has been passed down to the present day as the White Fox Legend.
