NIKKO PEN NIB ◆ School Pen
Engraved with NIKKO PEN KK MADE IN JAPAN, No. 5.
10 unused pieces, free shipping.
These dip pen nibs are popular for calligraphy and manga drawing.

While some teachers use them for calligraphy, unlike spoon nibs, these nibs allow for delicate lines in Japanese calligraphy (kana). They are also suitable for kana calligraphy.
Furthermore, they don't spread as much as G-pens, allowing for consistent fine lines, making them suitable for drawing detailed backgrounds, small objects, and effect lines in manga.

The manufacturer of these nibs was
LION, famous for office supplies, used to produce them, but they are no longer manufactured.

Currently, the Japanese nib brands available are
Tachikawa, Nikko, and Zebra.
Nikko brand was inherited by Tachikawa, so the current manufacturers are only Tachikawa and Zebra.

Nikko pens are also favored by instructors from U-CAN and the Japan Calligraphy Research Association.
Nikko nibs are a popular brand.

There are claims that older products have better performance.
During the period of high economic growth, around 1985, the production of dip pens was 1 million gross
(1 gross = 144 pieces), an astronomical figure.
However, with the changing times, government offices and banks also shifted to ballpoint pens.
It is also said that current nibs are manufactured using old equipment that has been maintained.

In the past, a large number of nibs were produced, and there were many skilled craftsmen.
However, production numbers have drastically decreased, and
the number of skilled craftsmen is not as high as it used to be.
It is said that better products were made back then, but please take this as a reference.

Also, some users who do a lot of calligraphy mention that older nibs are smoother and don't catch as much,
but please consider this as a reference.

Additionally, chrome-plated nibs have less deterioration and are said to retain their original performance even today.

I also enjoy calligraphy and change my nibs depending on what I'm writing.
I occasionally use Nikko school nibs as well.
