For Mr. Hama: Antique Kutani Ware, 10-person tea set, tin tea coasters
The old newspaper found inside was dated September 7, 1958.
The item itself is included, but the Japanese paper it was wrapped in was heavily damaged and has been discarded.
There are tea stains remaining, likely from use. The inside and bottom of the teapot are particularly dirty.
The saucers appear to be made of tin. They are not magnetic and are quite heavy. Is this a paulownia box?
Karatsu? A play on words with Karamatsu-ryu (Japanese larch)?
This item was found in my family's storage.
The name of my great-grandfather is written in ink next to the title, so it has been blurred out in white.
I am not knowledgeable about antiques, so I'm not entirely sure, but this is a highly decorative Kutani ware with beautiful gold accents.
The wooden box was tied with rope, but it has been cut open.
It had likely been stored for over 50 years. The box was also covered in dust.
