Popular in gardening for its fragrance and beauty.
It has a mint-like aroma and can be used in fish and meat dishes, as well as for herbal tea!

Ancient Roman texts describe it as treating oral diseases and eliminating internal parasites.
The genus name Hyssopus originates from the Hebrew word ezob (holy herb), and the Bible states, Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. It appears to have been used for physical and spiritual purification.

Its flower meanings, derived from this history, are Purity and Purification.

?Sowing Method
As it is a light-loving seed, do not cover with soil.
For pot seedlings, thinning and transplanting the remaining sprouts is easy.
When planting in the ground, as it is susceptible to excessive moisture, plant on raised soil.

?Soil and Fertilizer
Prefers well-draining alkaline soil, but will grow in most soil types.
For potted plants, use soil for flowering plants or herbs.
The aroma is better with less fertilizer, so avoid over-fertilizing.

?Watering
Once established, ground-planted plants do not require watering.
During prolonged summer dry spells without rain, water in the morning or evening.
For potted plants, water thoroughly when the surface soil is dry.
