Golden Mop is a variety of Sawara cypress that originated from a bud mutation of Filifera Aurea. Its tree shape is conical, but the overall landscape appears fan-shaped, so we have described it as fan-shaped. It is characterized by its vibrant golden color and its ability to maintain a low tree shape for a long period. It is suitable for ground cover and borders. It propagates by cuttings and is characterized by its fine branches and sparse foliage.
A conifer with a tree shape resembling an overturned golden mop. It has fine, soft scale-like leaves, and the tips tend to droop. A wonderful variety with beautiful foliage color and tree shape. It is widely used as a golden shrub for ground cover and flower beds.
The similar species, Filifera Aurea, is upright and is used for ground cover by pruning it low. However, for shrub applications like this, the dwarf variety Golden Mop is more suitable.
Pruning and trimming are best done from February to March, and again from after the new shoots that grow around April have hardened until before the rainy season ends. This will improve the branch structure and shape the tree and its size.
When trimming, it is best to imagine creating a dome shape.
Pruning and trimming are not necessary if not required. Once it grows to a certain extent, the tree shape tends to form naturally, so simply trimming branches that disrupt the shape is sufficient.
It is vigorous, resistant to pests and diseases, and easy to grow, making it recommended for gardening beginners.
This is a small Itohiba cypress with fine, long, drooping branch tips, forming a hemispherical shape. The leader is difficult to establish, and its growth is somewhat slow. The golden color can be enjoyed throughout the year. It prefers sunlight and fertile soil. It tolerates trimming, making it recommended for ground cover in gardens and mixed plantings.
It is a type of Sawara cypress. It is considered a variant of Filifera Aurea, but its trunk does not grow upright easily, making it suitable for ground cover. As it grows, it appears hemispherical. It is a beautiful variety with a lime green color from spring to autumn and an orange hue in winter.
