Mitsubishi Electric implements new technology in chillers to identify refrigerant leak locations, reducing work time.
Refrigerant leaks glow blue when illuminated with a UV light (see image).
Previously, identifying refrigerant leak locations was a very difficult task, involving searching for areas where refrigerant oil had dripped and spread, using specialized detectors to find the approximate leak area, and then applying soapy water to find pinholes where bubbles appeared. This new product significantly shortens that process.
Mitsubishi Electric also offers a service called MEL Cool LINK which checks for refrigerant leaks by attaching a remote monitoring device to the condensing unit. The results are stored in the cloud and can be checked on a dedicated website. MEL Cool LINK not only notifies registered email addresses via email when a refrigerant leak occurs but also allows you to check the history on a dedicated website.
*A dedicated UV light and, if necessary, an injection tool are required for injection.
