Mini Leather Strop

■ Mini Leather Strop

This is a mini leather strop designed for the final polishing of knives and blades. It uses honing compound and machine oil. It's perfect for daily touch-ups when a full sharpening isn't necessary.
I personally use a leather strop on my leatherworking tools before each use to maintain their sharpness.

■ Materials
Body: Japanese Cypress (thinned wood)
Leather: Vegetable-tanned leather
The underside of high-quality vegetable-tanned leather scraps from leathercraft projects is used. The leather, infused with machine oil, has honing compound (approx. 4000-5000 grit) worked into it. The leather is secured with brass nails.

■ Maintenance
When the honing compound wears down, add a small amount of oil and rub in more honing compound. Machine oil and honing compound can be found at 100-yen shops or hardware stores.

■ Precautions for Use
If using on kitchen knives, wash thoroughly after sharpening.
For safety, it is recommended to place the strop on a surface and sharpen the blade.
