What is Tonkin Cane? Tonkin Cane is a high-quality bamboo from China. It has long internodes, minimal curvature, and the densest fibers, making it the go-to material for bamboo rods. It is quite luxurious and expensive for bamboo.
It is made by bonding six triangular bamboo strips.

Tonkin Cane is said to be one of the strongest types of bamboo due to its dense power fibers. High density and flexibility are required for rods to have strength and suppleness. Its minimal curvature and long internodes are also reasons for its selection.

Yamashita Kogei is a manufacturer of natural material products, including bamboo and wooden items, based in Beppu, and produces and sells lure and fly rods under the brand Takebito sports.
