This is an original koma (bridge) for kokyu, made in Yatsuo, Toyama Prefecture, famous for the Etchu Owara Bushi and Owara Kaze no Bon festival. (Can also be used for other types of kokyu)

Most commercially available koma are thick to maintain strength, but this is an extremely thin, high-resonance koma.
It also has a feature on the back to prevent cracking, significantly reducing the risk of the koma breaking during attachment and removal.

Furthermore, while commercially available kokyu koma are made from a single piece of bamboo, this koma is crafted by separately using 500-year-old soot-stained bamboo for the upper part and 500-year-old soot-stained bamboo for the lower part, and then incorporating genuine tortoise shell for the string groove. It is a very labor-intensive piece.
