Refurbished and fully functional Sony TCM-400 monaural cassettecorder

Overview: This is a monaural tape recorder known for its excellent playback sound quality. However, this unit has a defect where the recorded sound is extremely quiet. My unit is priced higher than other identical models because I have corrected this defect.

Features:
- Double speed mode. You can record for 90 minutes on one side of a 90-minute tape.
- VOR (Voice Operated Recording). When set to High or Low, the motor stops when there is about 5 seconds of silence during recording and restarts when sound is detected again. Please use this setting in the OFF position under normal circumstances.
- Continuously variable playback speed adjustment
- Tape counter
- External microphone jack
- Cue & Review
- External power jack (3V, EIAJ#1. AC-E30M can be used.)
- Automatic stop at tape end during recording and playback
- Includes one new 90-minute tape and two AA alkaline batteries. (See image 2)

Repair Details: Please refer to images 6, 7, and 8.

Notes:
- I apologize, but this will be the last listing to include tape and batteries.
- I am likely the only one who has modified the ALC setting on this unit. I will ignore discount negotiations unless a competitor appears who has made similar improvements and offers them at a lower price. I will gradually lower the price when I feel like it, but the minimum will be 5700 yen.
- Many people mistake this for a Walkman, but this unit is a monaural cassette recorder. While both ears will produce sound when headphones or earbuds are connected, it is not stereo. You can use any type of single-earphone (2-pole, 3-pole, or 4-pole) when listening with one ear.
- There are considerable scratches and dirt. Please refer to images 4 and 5.
- I do not sell monaural cassette players. If you are looking for a monaural unit, please search for cassette recorder.
