Wonderful Vintage Distressed Nautical Seascape Oil on Canvas

This is a 1970's vintage oil painting on canvas featuring a nautical seascape with sailing ships, signed by the artist Marini., with a pale yellow background. The painting is attributed to an artist named Marini and depicts three distressed sailing vessels in a minimalist style. The artwork is housed in a beautiful, decorative, ornate embossed wood frame. Alfonso Marini, a contemporary artist of Italian descent, experimented with portraits and landscapes, but his forte focus was marine life and seascapes. His paintings are often monochromatic, often featuring an isolated lighthouse or several ships. There is a sense of desolation in these scenes. The viewer can almost feel the early morning mist and the smell of the salt water. This is a lovely piece that would be a wonderful addition to anyone with a love of all things nautical or antique artwork. Dimensions: 13 X 11
