This is an antique Maru obi from the Taisho era.
It has a very substantial feel and makes a grand statement.
The pattern is the same on both sides.
The tip of the hand (te-saki), the tip of the drape (tare-saki), and the stitching (kagari) are frayed.
There are noticeable stains and dirt commensurate with its age.
However, it is even more wonderful than its flaws suggest.
The obi was quite heavy even at the time, so it may be difficult to wear.
We recommend it for use as interior decor, such as a rug, or for handmade projects.
We hope it finds its way to someone who will cherish it.
