Antique 1920s Boys Wool Suit 3 Piece-Dayton Co-Newsboy Cap-Shorts-Jacket-2T 3T

Authentic antique c.1915–late 1920s boy’s 3-piece wool outfit with jacket, short trousers and matching newsboy cap, sold by The Dayton Co., Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dayton’s began in 1902; the company later launched Target in 1962. A wonderful surviving example of early children’s tailoring. The shorts retain their sturdy cotton waistband lining and period buttonholes used to attach trousers to a child’s skeleton/underwaist before elastic waists became standard. Size is Approx. modern 2T–3T; use measurements for fit.  Dimensions: Jacket 17.5L, 11 chest flat, 14.5 sleeve, 12.5 waist, 14 hem. Shorts 9.5 waist flat, 11L, 3.5 inseam.  Condition: Authentic antique condition with age wear, areas of fading, small hole in jacket and one loose button. Lining shows age/discoloration. See photos.
