Antique c1928 The Flying Puzzle Lindbergh NY Paris Wood Sliding Block Complete

CONDITION:  Complete with all 14 original wooden puzzle blocks, including the essential PLANE block. The cardboard box has substantial age-related wear, including heavy staining, discoloration, surface-paper loss, creasing, splitting and edge wear. Some wooden blocks have stains, fading, scratches and general handling wear. No solution sheet is included. Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition.  DESCRIPTION:  Original antique The Flying Puzzle wooden sliding-block puzzle dating to approximately 19281930.  Created in the wake of Charles Lindberghs historic 1927 transatlantic flight, the objective is to move the PLANE block from the New York position to the corner marked Paris without removing any of the hazards and perils from the box.  This example is complete with all 14 wooden blocks:   PLANE  Two RAIN blocks  HAIL  WIND  SNOW  Two FOG blocks  Two WATER blocks  Two SLEET blocks  CLOUDS  AIR/POCKET blocks  The puzzle is based on J. M. Schneiders sliding-block design patented in 1928. The illustrated lid features an early airplane, pilot, stars and the original New York-to-Paris challenge.  Approximate box size: 4¾ x 4 inches.  The manufacturer is not identified on this particular example. Several companies distributed versions of this puzzle during the late 1920s and early 1930s.  A scarce early aviation and mechanical-puzzle collectible with strong Charles Lindbergh-era imagery. Everything included is shown in the photographs.
