A vintage Pyrex Sculptured mixing bowl in cobalt blue glass.

Pyrex, a brand of borosilicate glassware produced by Corning Glass Works, became a staple of American kitchens in the mid-20th century. The 'Sculptured' line was introduced to provide a more decorative, elegant look compared to the standard smooth-sided mixing bowls. These pieces were designed to transition seamlessly from the oven to the dining table. Cobalt blue was one of the most popular colors in the Sculptured series, prized for its deep, rich hue. The vertical ribbing not only added visual interest but also provided a better grip for the user. Today, these items are highly collectible as examples of mid-century modern industrial design.
