◉ Akama Inkstone, a unique and deeply flavorful red inkstone in Japan, is characterized not only by its color but also by its fine, hard, dense stone quality and beautiful surface.
◉ This piece features three plum blossoms and eight buds carved elegantly on the upper part of the inkstone's rim. A winding branch is carved on the right side of the rim, and the roots of the plum tree are carved at the bottom right.
The area near the rim has been meticulously textured with stippling to create a matte finish, indicating extra craftsmanship.
The lid, with a single plum blossom as a knob, enhances the ink-holding capacity.
The stone pattern consists of a light azuki bean color mixed sporadically on a dark azuki bean base, characteristic of Akama stone. A thin, light blue-green pattern of about 2mm is visible on the tongue, adding to its uniqueness.
Furthermore, the lid of the paulownia wood box bears a proud, soft, and flowing brushstroke, a testament to the artisan's skill, along with a stamp.
This is undoubtedly a very large and attractive work of art, suitable for both use and display as a craft.
